As we easy into January and the new year, I want to encourage you to focus your attention on self-care and get back to basics when it comes to your health. If you really want to create good health habits that stick you have to add an element of fun and deliciousness.
There are three main components that will ensure that a meal is satisfying- in both flavour and substance – and good for your body.
1. Make plate crave worthy, by using ingredients and techniques like roasting, seasoning in a high quality oil. Try new seasoning each week – ginger, garlic, cayenne, coconut, and don’t forget the good quality of salt.
2. Use good quality culinary oil. Extra virgin organic coconut oil not only improves the taste of the dish but it also provides those good-for-you fats.
3. Add protein. Protein, in tandem with fat, helps us stay full for longer and keeps our energy levels up. Whether it’s plant-based protein like sautéed chickpeas, a coconut oil-fried eggs, it’s important component to making a meal filling and satisfying. If you adding protein to your meals you are on the right tract creating a healthy habit that’s easy to get on board with.
